Swissotel Merchant Court - Ellenborough
went to Swissotel Merchant Court for buffet dinner with farmz at the Ellenborough cafe on friday.
the durian pengat was ooooooooooooooooooooh!! it was definitely the highlight of the evening. shared 3 bowls with friends :P however, we could tell that the first serving we had early in the evening was the nicest & thickest.. it became slightly diluted as the night goes on
black pepper crayfish :) it's literally "gone in 60 seconds" whenever the waiter brings out a new tray. it's not bad!
didn't take many pictures cos my battery was dying :P plus, i was too hungry la.. hehe
anyway, my verdict of this buffet is that the only thing worth going for is the durian pengat. the rest of the dishes were so-so only. was quite irritated by the staff throughout the evening. they have a tendency to attempt to clear the plates when we still have food on the plates that we want to eat. we were literally keeping our eyes on the staff's prying hands whenever we walked away from our seat or just talking to each other.
received an sms from mr porky's sis-in-law this evening:
Dinner at Merchant Court Hotel on this coming Wed, 30 Jan. Time: 7pm. Reserved under XXX XXX. Thank u and see u guys there!
*faint*
it's ok, i know what to aim for this time round already :P
durian pengat here i come. again!

ZzzzZZZzzzzz
it's mid-day of a mid-week and i'm so super duper sleepy. i think i can just lie down on the office floor and snore away.
shall do operation 1810 later.
(psst, for the benefit of the ignorant, the few of us at work devised an operation 1800 - leaving office on time at 6pm. but me is paiseh to 1800, so i'll normally do 1810. and yeah, you're right, it makes no difference :P)
countdown: 9 days to payday and variable bonus. hurry! i need the moolahs! super broke this month - study loans, bills, online shopping, mum etc.. not forgetting the 1k to our "lovely home" savings account.
(special thanks to meanie's msn nickname for the countdown :P u go girl! SSC is love!)
really glad to finally send DIST to print. hate boring projects.. well, not like the others are not boring, but this is one of the ultimate ones. =/
can i say that i really don't like the brochure cover? i always prefer the sample ones that i do, but ultimately, the tortoise will always have his way. AND he always love to ask me what I think of his designs. i can only say "ok loh, not too bad la" and he'll say "you always ok one"... HEY LAO WU GUI, can i outrightly tell you that they suck? i'm not so stupid to do that and ultimately get shot by you loh..

Cloverfield
Cloverfield - you either like it or you hate it.
and i like it!
It is produced by J.J Abrams, the big guy behind the TV series "Lost". Parts of the movie were shot using hand-held video camera, the other parts were edited to make it look like it was shot using a hand-held video cam. I was apprehensive about watching the show at first, cos i was scared that it would make me giddy. In the end, it made the usually yaya-papaya Mr Porky giddy instead of me. :P (oh yeah, he likes the show too!)
Mr Porky noticed that quite a number of people left the cinema and didn't come back.. i guess they couldn't take it. Honestly, I think it's really fine. The way the film was captured made it even more realistic.
The (viral) marketing for the movie is very interesting as well. They have very realistic MySpace pages for the characters in the show, with messages left by other characters in the show, such as the male lead asking the female to go for lunch etc. There are other websites which features YouTube like vids of their friend talking about their everyday life, etc..
I'm tempted to actually watch it again to catch those minute details that i missed. (pssst, wikipedia tells you so much!)
It is not an average movie that you'll expect to see. I shall not divulge too much, but I definitely recommend you to watch it with an open mind, and tell me what you think! :)
oh yeah, the babe in the show - beth is hot!!

They Prada come, they shopping done, in Central as it is in Paris
Give us this day our husband's Visa gold card and have him forgive us our balance, as we forgive those who charge interest against us.
Lead us not into Mitsukoshi and deliver us from Wing On.
For thine is the Chanel, the Gaultier and the Versace.
For Dolce and Gabbana,

(i have no idea who came up with this, if you do, let me know so i can credit it.)

bad hair month
I went for a haircut on Sat at "Belong" in Yishun. I went there previously to highlight my hair and I thought they did a pretty good job, which explains my return.
This time round, it's another person who did my haircut. Now, my fringe sucks like hell!!! I look like an idiotic winter melon with the short fringe. It's so short that I can't clip it up without spraying stuffs on the winter melon head.
It'll definitely be nicer when it's longer.
Grow hair, grow!!!

cookie monster
after many many tries with different blogskins, i've finally settled for this cookie monster skin.
i like it because it's simple
i like it because it's plain
i like it because it's cute
i like it because it's cookie monster
i like it because it's a cookie monster who shits :)
i found an elmo blogskin in a similar template as this! who wants to be twinnies with moi?
had Häagen-Dazs macadamia nut ice cream & sara lee cake for dinner. yums! totally reward for my hard work today.
*in denial of my sins*
work tomorrow again. their faces still make me feel like puking.
i want to go singing!

Dream Home
Was bored while bathing and started thinking about my future dream home....
I'm very absolutely aware that many of the above will probably never come true, or else, only when i'm 60 but well, such is life.... and I love to day-dream :)
My dream home consists of the following oooh-so-lovely aspects:
- a swing sort of bench for fun times to chat with friends and family
- bean bags bean bags bean bags!! in red, blue, green, yellow, polka dots, stripes, leopard, zebra, all sorts of colours!!
- a round/circle designer chair as often seen on tv which looks like this:

- a round/circle designer chair as often seen on tv which looks like this:
- a set of nicely painted walls which is not only white and white alone. i'd love it to be creative! vibrant! cheerful!
- a nice & cosy kitchen where I can do whatever I like to it and hopefully it looks like one typically seen on Discovery Travel & Living
- a walk in wardrobe with a see through cupboard specially for my bags bags bags so it feels like i'm shopping everytime I step into my wardrobe (FYI, that's Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe in Sex and the City)

Sunday Depression
It's a Sunday & I'm having Sunday depression. I'm depressed thinking about tomorrow's work. About having to face the bird and tortoise. Their faces makes me puke. About doing work that I do not believe in myself. About having to go through the weekly staff briefing and being interrogated by bird on why is this like this and why is that like that. It's so bad that I have urges to cry every now & then. I find it hard to make myself smile on a Sunday. I hate myself for taking naps on a Sunday as it means shortening my day and making Monday come faster.
After that, we headed to NAFA's Lee Foundation Theatre for a night of brass music - Symphonic Brass Plays "Theatre Music" presented by Just Brass Ensemble with guest appearance by The Tuba Powerhouse & ConCORdis. Old class & band mate Zhong Qing (who is probably the most talented young French Horn player in Singapore now) performed at the concert (which explains why we're all there). He had many solos that night and was probably the star of the concert.
Good job friend! You did great (except for a couple of wrongly pitched notes, haha :P) and I'm very happy to see your current achievements. It has been your dream since Secondary school to be a great musician and I think you are doing exactly that now. :)
After the concert, we headed to a steamboat place opposite Paradiz Centre for a "light" dinner :P
Sometimes I have the urge to tell her that her actions are making many of us unhappy. Probably some of the things I said were a bit harsh but this is definitely not an isolated case of her doing/saying things that will spoil everybody's night so I couldn't bear it anymore. It is not often that we meet, probably 2 times a year and I do not think it is hard to compromise with everyone else to make things easier. Wake up from your world, please. It is not just about you and you alone.
I've bidded for this cute Coach Taffy from Evilbay! Have to go through vPost as the seller doesn't ship to Singapore. It is a bit troublesome but definitely worth my time as a Singapore Yahoo! auction seller is selling it for $100 more. Cant wait!
Ok, that spells the end of my very random post. Back to depressing Sunday.

Went to Yishun Safra KTV during New Year's Eve. The fun part was when me & Simin took out our cameras and started shooting around. :)

Went to KS's new dessert shop at Potong Pasir yesterday to show our support for this old time band senior! Hope his business will pick up soon and more people will patronise this small but cosy place. The desserts are good! :)
