jx has a business trip to seoul from 6 june. so he asked if i would be able to take leave from work and go with him. so i checked with my sis, who always sweetly tries to say yes to my requests.
so tada! we will be going seoul from 4th june midnight to 12th june.
and...
i'll be flying business class!
it is my 1st time, and i'm uber excited. we have miles from SIA, and coincidentally, there were only business class tickets available for me when he wanted to book. so we are only paying 300 for taxes :P i think it is such a great deal though he keeps saying thats a hell lot of miles used for 1 pax :P
for the trip, he'll be at meetings most of the times but we have time to shop around together during the weekends. anyway... i'll be walking around seoul myself and i hope i'll enjoy it!
can't wait! :)

the wedding
so happy that i (we) no longer have to think and plan and worry about wedding prep :)
thanks to our lovely and fantabulously helpful and capable friends, everything went smoothly and i don't think there were much hiccups (if any) worthy of mention.
the day went passed quickly with so much fun. the dinner finished early, at 10.30pm and everyone could go home and rest well for the next day's work. fullerton was fabulous and we had lots of compliments about the food. I didnt fall down the stairs during march-in, although i could almost hear everyone's bated breath as we took the scary steps. :P
if there's anything i wanna pick and tear apart.. i would say...
if you receive any invitation to a wedding, you do not simply ignore all the facebook messages, emails and smses. if you genuinely cannot make it, (or really just don't want to go for whatever silly reasons), let the couple know so they can plan and make arrangements. so that they dont have to stare at the wall and wait for your reply before they can do anything else to get things going. i simply do not understand how these cases can happen, especially when we invite people whom we think have a good relationship with either of us, and would really enjoy the invitation.
or, if you have accepted the invitation enthusiastically (and even asked if your husband can join), you do not wait till the wedding day, at 5pm even(!) to sms the couple and let them know that you (and your husband) are unable to attend. you have no idea how much of a headache this creates to everyone in the wedding party.
fortunately, our superbly super wedding party was able to resolve issues and told us to relax and leave anything to them. so grateful and thankful for these people in our life, really. :)
ok, rave and rant over, for now. so tempted to post this on facebook so that those anonymously guilty people mentioned above can read and feel bad! :P

2 and a half months and going..
hello!
ooops, it has been quite a while isnt it? was only updating the wedding blog ever since we set it up and (ahem) i have also neglected it after the wedding happened :P
how's life after the wedding? well i guess i'm still getting used to it :)
it ain't bad at all but i do miss living with my mum - not being able to sit beside her every night, with her watching the tv and me using my laptop. i think (and she has obviously told me) that she feels lonely at home after her work, with my bro being often away, out at sea or taking trips. but i do make it a point to go home every monday when i dont have work and she has her off day. so i sort of hope that this makes up for my absence and that she wont feel too deserted.
other than that, and not feeling the morale at work, life's been good :)

Mayday
when i was 17 or 18.. i worked part-time in a CD shop. it was the time when mayday released their first album and my colleague was playing the CD after we received it in the shop. the same year, i had a chance to watch them live at indoor stadium.
lo and behold! that was the beginning of the i-love-mayday spiral.
1st rows during autograph sessions, mini concerts.. most expensive tickets to every concert.. recording every tv appearances, even if it was just for 30 seconds.. going to the airport and hotel.. going to their supper places... anything you name, the fan-girl did. :)
their record company staff even regarded us as "第一排霸主"!
(but we are too old now to protect our fort, so 霸主 no more :( )
it is the spirit of the songs, encouraging us to carry on dreaming and loving, the wonderful lyrics and melodies, the extensive musical arrangements, the enormous talent, the hardwork they put into each & every song and performance and the very real personalities that i love so much about them.
throughout these years, i have always wanted to attend their concerts overseas (yes, singapore no-enough!). money and timing were always not on my side. however, this time, i had a short break from work which coincided with their hong kong concert. so there's no holding me back this time.
i went, conquered and loved every single minute of it. :)
and here's to more mayday-ified 10 years for me, the proud mayday fan-girl :)

death by internet?
was talking to a friend just now on the msn; ranting to her about the wedding preparation.
how much reviews and homework we have to read/do online whenever we are trying to make new decisions such as deciding on the hotel, bridal studio, photographer, videographer, bed, lighting, wardrobe, this and that, etc etc..
yes, these reviews help.
very much, in fact.
but these information can get so overwhelming that it frightens people.
in the past, there were no internet around to help.
people rely on word-of-mouth, advertisement, or just by pretty shop decor.
like my sister for example.. during her time of wedding prep, there were no internet information available, but i can still remember her wedding being so perfect.
nowadays.. we even rely on reviews for food. whenever we decide to try some new restaurant, internet is the 1st place we check for bad comments. even so, after all the splendid comments that we read, the restaurant might still not end up to our liking.
so are we wasting too much time on the internet trying to get reviews for everything we do?
well, i'm not taking chances. though i'm absolutely tired of information overload.
now excuse me, while i go read up on which brand of mattresses are the "best"..

prep work!
have been reading and researching on the bridal studios.. such a difficult decision to make!
read some not-so-good comments on di gio so guess i'll skip them (i was really impressed by the huge range of gowns that they have though!)..
considering the aisle or my bridal room now...
we have more or less finalised the hotel, just some final clarifications about the contract and we'll be done!

some lil updates :)
haven't been to work these few days cos my mum had her cataract surgery & i'm staying at home to take care of her.. but i ended up having a fever & so had to stay at home another day. not that i'm complaining. no work is always a bliss :) going back tomorrow though!
yikes, my mum just told me about my kitchen having lizards & there are always some rubber bands being brought to a corner when she wakes up in the morning. huh, didn't know lizards are so playful...
some updates about our wedding plans :)
- met up with a fengshui master to do our wedding dates calculation. he is actually really young but definitely pro. gave us a few dates in a simple report format, coupled with detailed explanation of some traditional chinese customs like what is "guo da li", "an chuang" etc. he even emailed us some templates which are very helpful after the consultation! apparently, he also does home & office fengshui so let me know if you need his contacts in the future :)
- chose a tentative date & the hotel to view the place! made a tentative booking with them. haven't sign the contract but we were rather happy with them :)
- thinking of taking up either di-gio or the aisle for the bridal package! advice anyone? :(
- still taking our time with the other things :P

We are Engaged!

for once, he was totally successful in planning a surprise - without me suspecting anything at all :)
we had planned to go for a stay somewhere to relax and to take a little break. little did i know that it wasn't relaxing at all for him! :)
goodwood park hotel suddenly became a special place for both of us.
a place where i had surprises after surprises.
a place where i had the ultimately perfect proposal
a place where i teared happy tears one round after another
a place where we shared our blissful joy with both our families right after the deed.
with a polaroid camera to capture instant moments,
a scrapbook made with love and sleepless nights,
a ring bought after endless reading and research,
a proposal which touched me till no end....
...we are engaged. :)

badminton!
whee, we have started on our new resolution to play badminton every saturday!
last sat was the 1st session and boy was it shiok! it has been such a long time since i've played (or did any form of exercise) and it was very fun!
we were exhausted by the end though and hopefully we will be able to build up our stamina soon.
looking forward to the next session! :)

New Year New Look!
well... not that i wanted to change the skin voluntarily. it has been a while since i visited my own blog and when i did come in tonight, i was shocked to find that the cookie monster skin was no longer working.. :(
anyway...so i did some changes here and there and tada! not so satisfied but i suppose this will do since i'm not updating this too often anyway. heh :P guilty as charged..
happy 2010 everyone!
resolutions..?
i've never done this before because i know i will never ever follow through with whatever i set. but hey, why not do this for fun and see if i've achieved anything one year later when i come back to read this..
let's see.. i hope to:
- keep to our aim of playing badminton at least once a week
- walk.... a bit on my rusty threadmill at least once a week as well :P
- improve on my processes at work!
- fulfil the australia trip with farmz
- update this dusty place more often
- procrastinate lesser
now.. let's see how long it takes for me to post again next time.. heehee

happy 1st day of the 6th year together
16th march. 5th anniversary!
17th march. 1st day of the 6th year together!
thank you mr porky for being the most wonderful pig to have ever graced my life. :P
17th march. 1st day of the 6th year together!
thank you mr porky for being the most wonderful pig to have ever graced my life. :P
my 1st post of 2009
.... is actually in march!?
ok, i'll admit, i've been neglecting my blog ever since eversince. :P
well, i really don't have much to share and to rant about since i left PC. (that's really a good thing i suppose)
work's been fine..nothing much to update about except that i've met my fair share of really nasty and unbelieveable parents. i really pity those kids sometimes, having to live with those kind of parents their whole life; getting their heads being nagged off all the time. i swear i'll never become such a parent in the future!
mr porky and me have been planning on having a short trip and we've decided to return (for the 3rd time together) to Bangkok on the 9-13th of apr!
silly us were rather impulsive and booked the air tickets immediately seeing that we've finally managed to squeeze some time for a short trip. little did we know that our tickets are so expensive ($750 for 2 pax on jetstar asia) cos it's the period of the thai songkran (water festival)!
damn... i hate getting wet.
the festival is from 13-15 apr and i hope they don't stretch the holidays and start splashing the water earlier.. :(
anyway.. i think we'll skip into a cab as soon as we leave the apartment and try to avoid walking on the streets if possible..
nevertheless, i'm really excited about the food..
somboon! (curry crab.. tomyum soup.. peking duck.. yumyum)
coco walk's $5 buffet!
fuji jap food!
room service!! (lol)
i'm also really looking forward to attending keng keng's wedding in penang in may! this is the first time the whole "clique" of PC oldies will be going overseas together. it's gonne be a really short trip but i'm sure it'll be all sorts of awesomeness combined. :)
and.. who would have thought that keng keng will be the 1st getting hitched amongst all of us? :)
i'm really very very happy you keng keng!!

wheee~
yes!
too much hassle to lock, even i myself need to login everytime to access my links.
and since i'm no longer under the scrutiny of evil prying eyes... tada!
i have much to update but laziness overcomes everything. however, we were taught how to write summaries in primary school which is definitely still useful till date unlike silly equations. ;)
the girls gave me a great farewell with a very sweet powerpoint presentation done by justina filled with pictures and lovely wishes by the people. i also had handmade cereal cookies & necklace from Noormie, handmade postcard from Shu'en, farewell "booklet" which everyone took so much effort to write & beautify plus an agnes b bag charm which is so pretty :)
i miss them so!
went taipei for a 7-day holiday with mr porky and had great great fun! food was great & hotel location was soo ideal. bought back lots of cosmetics & skincare. didn't buy any clothes though. went to watch the recording of Guess*3 and it was definitely memorable.
two weeks after coming back from taipei, both of us decided to go KL for a 3-day short trip to utilise his free apartment stay. no words beside "shiok" can describe the apartment! transtar 1st class seat was fantastic too! lots of movies on demand (can choose, pause, forward, rewind), including english, chinese, japanese & korean movies (like around 16 eng & chinese movies each!), plus various concerts & games to watch & play.
been working at the new place for almost a month now. getting the hang of it :) i don't have to work on mondays now cos no classes are scheduled on mondays but once the new academic year starts in dec for us, i'll have to work mondays - saturdays and longer hours... :(
besides this drawback, i do appreciate having this job at my sis's place. candy, my bro-in-law's sis who has been there is very patient & helpful. (and she stays in yishun too so we can share cab to work and back from time to time :P) it has been rather stress-free till date and i have the flexibility of taking leaves or leaving earlier if i have things on, without needing to count the days of leave i have left. i also have more chances to see my nephews & niece whom i adore.
the centre will be closed from 15th - 27th nov so no work on those days :D
i think my sis is gonna book some rooms in sentosa for a few days during that period.
will drop by shenton way for lunch one of those days when i'm off!
birthday is coming in a few days time & i've already had some surprises and celebrations. thanks 38 gang for the angbao & great day singing + outbacking! thanks mr porky for the crabby dinner, gigantic popcorn jar, sweets, chocolates, yummy cake, macarons & the agnes b key ring!
wow.... that's a long summary.
well, till the next one!

freedom awaits
after 2 and a half long years of complaining, bitching and wanting to fly away, I've finally done the deed on 8th Sep.
was supposed to be already gone by 19th but i'm staying till 29th to do whatever i can to clean up the department's mountain of templates
i broke down when i handed the letter. haha. quite silly considering how much i've been wanting to leave ever since "ever since".
but there was just a gush of emotions at that moment.
how i'm really comfortable with the people here, with my seat, my computer and the executive toilet. (hah)
how this is my first job after graduation and i'm moving to a totally new industry facing totally new challenges.
how the bosses are sometimes tolerable.
how she is able to finally recognise my abilities and had been giving me more and more new responsibilities.
how i have to leave noormie and keng behind..
how i wont be able to have weekly lunches with xer xer anymore.
how i wont be having my gigantic inbox with emails all the way from 2006.
how i will have to ditch the irritating emails sent by them which i kept till today.
but ever since throwing the letter, there were many instances where i thank goodness for being able to fly away soon. like when she comes up with even more extensive and time-consuming meaningless templates, like when there are people here with asses on their heads instead of the brain, like when one single newspaper article can make the whole company change their business model instantly, like when i have to sit in for 6 meetings in a day, like when i have to answer stupid questions daily from assheads.
i'm thankful.
oh yeah. she asked the welfare team to do a farewell for me. how shocking is that?! but of course it won't be a dedicated session. it has to be combined with joyful events such as 3 other people's birthdays. money is only well-spent that way, ya'know?
anyway, i'm appreciative.
countdown. 7 days to 29th :)
oh yeah. i've not forgotten the dream of flipping the table and breaking the laptop. the slow and sucky lenovo seems to be perfect. :)
